Are you a Pakistani student or graduate interested in becoming a physician? Western Atlantic University School of Medicine (WAUSM) offers a Doctor of Medicine (MD) program for students pursuing medical education.
Please note: WAUSM is located in The Bahamas, not the United States. Medical education, clinical training, residency eligibility, and licensing requirements should be evaluated carefully before choosing this pathway.
WAUSM may be worth exploring if you:
Have completed a bachelor’s degree and want to pursue medical education.
Have completed the prerequisite science coursework required by the school.
Can demonstrate the academic preparation and commitment required for medical training.
Are prepared to complete an interview and submit supporting documentation.
Have considered the financial commitment and researched the medical licensing pathway relevant to your future career goals.
This is a different pathway from applying to a conventional undergraduate university after Intermediate or A Levels. Applicants should confirm whether their qualifications and completed coursework meet WAUSM’s current requirements.
According to WAUSM’s published admission requirements, applicants are expected to provide:
A completed application.
A bachelor’s degree or higher.
A personal statement.
At least one academic or professional letter of recommendation; two are recommended.
Required prerequisite coursework.
An admissions interview, if invited.
English-language proficiency evidence where applicable.
The prerequisite coursework includes biology, general and organic chemistry, physics, English, mathematics, and humanities or social sciences. Required laboratory components and semester-hour equivalents apply, and the school states that prerequisite courses should not be more than ten years old.
For applicants who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents, the MCAT is not required under the published general policy, although scores from medical entrance examinations already taken should be submitted. Applicants with fewer than 90 credit hours completed at an English-speaking institution must submit TOEFL or IELTS results under the school’s published guidance.

WAUSM describes its admissions process as holistic. Its published selection criteria include:
Overall undergraduate GPA.
GPA in prerequisite premedical coursework.
Advanced science courses and academic preparation.
Medical entrance examination results, where applicable.
Letters of recommendation.
Personal statement and interview.
Research, work experience, internships, extracurricular activities, and other accomplishments.
A strong application should demonstrate that you are academically prepared for medical school and understand the demands of medical education. Meeting the stated minimum requirements does not guarantee an interview or offer of admission.
WAUSM publishes three class starts per year: January, May, and September. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so prospective students should check the current intake schedule and submit their complete materials as early as possible.
The school states that there is no application fee. Accepted students should carefully review the enrollment deposit, tuition schedule, and refund terms before committing.

Before applying, Pakistani students should research the school’s current accreditation and recognition status, clinical rotation arrangements, eligibility for relevant licensing examinations, and residency pathways.
If you intend to practice in Pakistan, confirm the current requirements with the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC). If you intend to practice in the United States, verify the applicable medical-school eligibility, examination, certification, and residency requirements with the relevant official bodies.
Do not rely solely on general statements about international recognition or potential residency opportunities. Confirm your own eligibility for the country in which you plan to practice.
Our team can help you review your academic transcripts, map completed coursework against published prerequisites, identify documentation gaps, and understand the application process. We can also help you prepare questions about clinical training, total program costs, and licensing pathways.
